( It's a cat. Sitting 'On The Radio')
I've said before that one of the joys of preparing the show is rediscovering songs I'd forgotten about. Eight of this week's songs fell into that category for me. I hope you heard some long lost favourites too.
Next week's show is a little different. It's long been the case that a particular type of excellent song is never heard on the radio simply because they last too long. Inspired by the discovery a couple of weeks ago that the Flaming Lips once release a single song that lasted for 24 hours, the programme features a few extended version, remixes and simply long songs exceeding eight minutes each. (Don't worry. There will be a fair selection of conventionally timed songs too.) It feels a little more risky than usual and if you have any reactins to share - form 'bloody brilliant' to 'is this still thr same song' I'd love to hear them.
The songs featured this week were:
Trampolene - Julian Cope
Frontier Psychiatrist - The Avalanches (Completely bonkers but wonderful with it!)
Das Model - Kraftwerk
F.O.G. - Fasme
Spear In The City - Bodies of Water
