Some mountains and valleys, a washing machine in need of a wash and a swatch card. They're all in the show somewhere.
Episode 7, I'm proud to share, is already at 54 in the global Mixcloud Indie Pop charts, up from 67 in the previous update. That's not bad for a show that has amassed an international audience in double figures and still rising!
Could that be due to our groundbreaking musical investigation into the nefarious practices dedevilling sampling? Is it because the world, or its geography, is our oyster!? (The Pop In The Real World Alphabet has reached 'G' for Geography) We'll be covering mountains, valleys, rivers and lakes. As well as geography there is also a sideways look at political theory too.
There's a bitter sweet look at Adrian Borland, the tortured soul behind The Sound and a number of excellent post punk songs. Critically acclaimed but commercially unrecognised he jumped under a train at 41. His reputation has grown since then and that provides a chance to celebrate the Canadian label The Beautiful Music, who have just released a tribute album of Adrian Borland cover versions.
Add to that the usual mix of forgotten, overlooked and classic songs and, all things considered, it's a bit of a treat.
Here are the songs.
